Damon
Clevenger Multicultural Advisor
●
My name is
Damon Thomas Clevenger. I am an Instrumental/General Music
Education Major and my primary instrument is trumpet. This
will be my third year at Ball State and my second year as a
Multicultural Advisor. I'm very excited to be returning this
year!
As a Multicultural
Advisor, I design bulletin boards focused on issues of
diversity and multiculturalism for the resident halls; plan
and facilitate Social Justice Sessions for each hall staff
with which I work; and collaborate with my fellow MAs to put
on six campus-wide multicultural programs per year. That's
just the basic job description though. I personally feel
that as an MA, my most important task is to constantly
challenge not only residents but also myself to learn as
much as possible about other cultures or perspectives on
various issues. In order to fulfill this duty, I engage in
frequent open and honest dialogues with residents,
classmates, friends, and colleagues. I feel that my work as
a Multicultural Advisor is so important because residents
need to feel safe and welcome in the halls and in order to
make this possible, each resident must be treated with
respect and dignity.
